Jyväskylä picnic event with Yona concert in May 2023

Finnish Pop music artist Yona will perform at the Jyväskylä picnic event this year. The concert is free and will be held in Lounaispuisto (Seminaarinkatu 34) on 28 May at 15:00. The Jyväskylä picnic event is the city's birthday gift to the residents.

Singer and songwriter Yona from Jyväskylä has released eight albums in her career.

National Parade on the Flag Day of the Finnish Defence Forces

The Flag Day's national parade of the Finnish Defence Forces will be held in Jyväskylä on 4 June 2023. In addition to viewing the parade and troops, the program includes an event field, Midnight Hawks air show, and the MILjazz summer tour concert in the evening. Admission to the events is free of charge.

Lost Tourula on display at Jyväskylä’s Kangas

The opening of the Tourula-themed art exhibition by visual artist Torsten Stigzelius (1942–2018) will take place at the community centre Piippuranta Club (Paperitehtaankatu 1) on Friday, 10 March at 12. Lost Tourula (Kadonnut Tourula) exhibition will be opened by Jussi Jäppinen, a writer and Doctor of Philosophy, who has also documented Tourula and Kangas areas.

Bus strike started, only Linkki lines 5 and 5K are running

The strike by bus drivers started on Wednesday morning 1.3.2023 at 03:00 and will last until Friday 10.3. at 03:00, according to a preliminary announcement.

The only Linkki transport company not on strike is Tilausajot Mennään Bussilla Oy, which operates routes 5 and 5K as normal.

Finding the right education for job seekers becomes easier

During the spring, Central Finland's employment agencies invite all unemployed jobseekers in the region to Kohti education events to learn about study options. Art Museum's spring program with a series of artist meetings

During the spring, people can meet visual artists at Friday chat groups and artist-themed meetings to hear stories about their path as artists and the backgrounds of their artworks in a relaxed setting.

The completion of the AaltoAlvari Aquatic Center renovation is delayed

The completion date of the first phase of renovation and expansion works of the AaltoAlvari swimming hall is delayed for a few months later than the original implementation schedule. According to the schedule, the estimation of the first phase completion will be at the end of August.

The Erasmus+ program brings French teachers to Jyväskylä to familiarize them with inclusion activities of the city's educational institutions from 6 to 10 February 2023

Experience KeMu – The Museum of Central Finland in the eyes of an international student

I have been drawn to the nature in Jyväskylä as a student so much that my love for history and heritage studies was diminishing. The prepossessing summers in Jyväskylä bring with them a lot of activities: nature walking, photography, biking, traveling, studying, swimming, and attending concerts among others. The nature in Jyväskylä, at least to visitors and international students, could be overpowering that it is easy not to learn of how the city - its past, continuing and changing features of life – has come to be defined.

Lasten Lystin spring takes families to culture

Winter walking route of the Ladun Maja has been opened

Jyväskylä Ladun Maja's winter walking route, which is 4.5 km long, has just opened. Through this route, you can visit nature in winter to have a walk or snowshoeing during February-March.

The new ski trail information system in Jyväskylä

Since the self-service library has been commissioned since the beginning of 2023, access to Kortepohja's new library is also possible outside the service hours.

Income limits in early childhood education and care will be raised as of 1st of March 2023, client fees applying to many children are to be reduced

Adjustments to income limits laid down by the Act on Client Fees in Early Childhood Education and Care will enter into force on as of 1st of March 2023. The income limits on which the client fees are based will be raised by 33%. The sibling discount remains the same and the payment percentage of 10,7% will remain the basis for the client fees.
