A mobile ticket is a convenient and quick way to purchase a travel ticket if you have downloaded the free ticket app to your mobile phone. You can purchase a mobile ticket on your phone while waiting at the stop.

Purchasing a mobile ticket

Linkki mobile tickets are sold through the Waltti Mobile app. Check the price list in the Waltti Mobiili app for ticket prices. Tickets purchased via the Waltti Mobiili app are always charged according to Linkki’s official fare list.

Mobile tickets valid on Linkki services are also available through other providers’ apps and services, such as Jyväskylä Tickets (PayIQ), Onnibus, VR, Matkahuolto, and Perille.fi. In these third-party apps, ticket prices are set by the operator and may include a payment method surcharge, which can vary depending on the chosen payment method.

Tickets purchased through mobile apps work only on a smartphone. It is not possible to load or use a Waltti travel card via these apps.

Payment is made using a bank or credit card (Visa, Visa Electron, or Mastercard) added to the mobile app, with online payment enabled. MobilePay and carrier billing (payment via your phone bill) are also supported.

Validity and usage

A mobile ticket is valid immediately after purchase. The ticket view shows a running timer indicating its validity. One-zone mobile tickets are valid for 60 minutes, while 2–3 zone tickets are valid for 120 minutes.

The mobile ticket must be purchased for all zones you will travel through. During its validity, you may travel freely within the zones covered by the ticket.

Once a ticket is confirmed, it cannot be canceled. Make sure to carefully select the correct ticket type, zones, and age group before purchase.

The ticket app also provides timetable and route planning as an additional service.

Checking a mobile ticket

Mobile tickets are verified using the bus ticket validator. The device reads the ticket from about 10 cm below the reader. The validator’s display will show the ticket’s remaining validity.

Make sure your phone has enough battery for the entire journey. The ticket must be available to show for inspection at any point during your trip.

If the ticket cannot be mechanically validated for any reason, the driver will check its validity on your phone’s screen and record the inspection in the fare collection system.

Download the Waltti Mobiili app

Registering as a user of the app is optional. Follow these steps:

Download the free Waltti Mobiili app from Google Play or the Apple App Store — search for “Waltti Mobiili.”

  1. Open the app and select JYVÄSKYLÄ as your service area.
  2. Purchase the ticket you want. Options include single tickets for Linkki public transport, 1–2 day tickets, and 30-day season tickets.
  3. Your ticket is valid immediately from the time of purchase.

Users of the Waltti Mobile service can receive digital receipts for their ticket purchases centrally via the ReceiptHero service.

30-day Waltti mobile ticket

You can purchase 30-day season tickets through the Waltti Mobiili app (available for children, youth, students, and adults).

Buying a ticket requires registration as a Waltti Mobiili user. Registration is mandatory to allow the ticket to be transferable. The 30-day ticket can be found in the app under the Buy Ticket menu.

The mobile season ticket is priced the same as the corresponding ticket loaded onto a travel card. Check the price list for tickets by customer group and zones.

When purchasing a mobile season ticket, you must select the required travel zones, your customer group, and preferred payment method.

Buying a student season ticket (30 days) requires verification of your student status within the app.

The ticket is valid immediately after payment and shows the remaining validity time.

Note: A mobile ticket cannot be purchased in advance for later use, as its validity starts immediately upon purchase.

The season ticket can be transferred from one mobile device to another during the validity period, for example, when changing phones. However, the number of transfers is limited to prevent unauthorized sharing of the ticket. If you encounter any issues with transferring a ticket, please contact a Linkki service point.

Purchasing a mobile ticket

You can buy mobile tickets through the Waltti Mobiili app either by registering as a user or without registration. By registering, you can choose from multiple payment methods depending on your needs. If you do not register, the only available payment method is mobile payment via your phone operator’s bill.

A mobile ticket is valid immediately after a successful purchase. Purchased tickets appear in the Tickets tab of the app. You can also buy multiple tickets on the same phone, for example, for an adult and child traveling together.

Available payment methods include:

  • Bank or credit card (Visa, Mastercard)
  • Mobile payment / phone operator billing
  • MobilePay
  • Apple Pay

In the History tab, you can view information about your previously purchased tickets.
